Lunar: Legend, Section 4

4.1) MERIBIA - Port of Return

Oh, what a cute little kitty! Oh ho ho ho!!! Leave Vane and head back to Meribia. Once there feel free to visit Ramus and see how he's faring; business is doing remarkably well for him. Anyway, go to Mel's Mansion and head right towards his office. You'll find Mel, Ghaleon, and Jessica there. Ghaleon explains to Mel his idea that a new Dragonmaster is necessary to oppose the Magic Emperor. Jessica, meanwhile, pretends not to notice you. Mel introduces her as his daughter and she makes the usual pleasantries (trying to get the hint to Nall to play along already). The boat that leaves for Caldor Island doesn't leave until tomorrow, so Mel asks Jessica to show Alex and them to their room. Once in the room, Jessica drops the act and explains that she can't let her father see her tomboyish demeanor--Mel sees her mother in Jessica, and she can't break his heart like that. She then asks what went on in Vane and Nall explains everything. Asking what's next, Luna tells her they're planning on returning to Burg to show Ghaleon to the White Dragon. Well, Jessica wishes them good night; Luna, however, is worried that this seems to be the end of their adventure once they return. When you wake up the next morning, Luna's feeling a little down from a strange dream she had the previous night. Nevertheless, you push on.

Alex, why is it you want to become Dragonmaster? Go downstairs and talk to Mel in his office one more time. He'll tell you Ghaleon's already left for the docks; so, leave the mansion and head east out of town and continue to the docks until you run into Ghaleon, ready to leave. Once you board the boat, Ghaleon pulls Alex aside to speak for a minute. He asks him why he wants to become a Dragonmaster. Alex hesitates and says that Quark asked him the same question when they met. Ghaleon then inquires as to how did Alex answer and what happened after that. Alex says that he wants to protect, that's how he answered, but then Quark asked a question that he is still unable to find an answer for. Ghaleon then continues and asks if the question was something like "If you had to choose between the one you loved and the entire world, which would it be? And why could you not give it up?" Ghaleon apologizes and says that he's not looking for him to answer here and now, but he should consider it. Before they can go on, Nall flies over and interrupts. Luna rushes over to admonish Nall and Ghaleon assures her it's alright. He then tells Luna that, once they return to Burg, he has to hear her sing. Luna agrees, which prompts the strangest line in the game from Ghaleon (though only in his thoughts) : "But will that song be a prelude, or a requiem?"

4.2) GOAT FOREST - Ghaleon Loves Fairies

He won't interfere with the creatures of this world any longer... Nall alerts them that they're close to land. Once you pull into port you'll get off in Saith. You'll have Ghaleon in your party now, but there's not much you can do with him. Continue to the Goat Forest. Once you enter there, you'll run into a man trying to capture a fairy. Ghaleon confronts the man, who says he's a collector of fairies and plans to sell it for a high price. Ghaleon then says that he'll buy the fairy; but once the man realizes that he's in the presence of the great Ghaleon he flees in terror. Ghaleon then sets the fairy free and they continue on. In his own thoughts, Ghaleon asks himself "So there are no evil humans? Is that why you threw away all your power, Dyne?

4.3) WHITE DRAGON SHRINE - Betrayal at Caldor

Quark is on the other side of this wall! Continue north. You can go east and revisit Burg if you'd like, but at this point it's not required. Anyway, go north and back to the gate that leads back to Quark and the White Dragon Shrine (the northwest corner of the second screen in Goat Forest). Nall will tell Ghaleon that Quark's shrine is on the other side of the gate. Alex and Luna will sing to open the gate like last time, and you'll walk through.

Wh... what is this!? Once on the other side, check the stone in the middle and, remembering the first time they were there, Alex shouts out the name of the White Dragon and the path appears. Enter the shrine and you'll take Ghaleon to meet Quark. He greets them and is surprised to see Ghaleon after such a long time; the last time they'd seen each other was when he was with Dyne. Ghaleon asks if the little girl Dyne saved back then was the girl they now know as Luna. Ghaleon believes so, and Quark admits the possibility. That's all he needed to know apparently; Ghaleon starts laughing then summons up energy and reveals his true identity: Magic Emperor Ghaleon. Without any warning or hesitation, he seals and captures Quark, then takes Luna along with him. Alex tries to save her, only to be knocked out by a magic barrier. Magic Emperor Ghaleon then bails; in his brief coma Alex recalls an old memory, one where he and Luna were very young and Alex made a promise to always be there to protect her. He wakes up back in his bed with his mother and Nall beside him; they tell him Laike showed up to rescue him from the cave, and he's waiting at Dyne's memorial.

4.4) BURG - Quark's Final Gift

Alex, do you know why Dyne died fifteen years ago? Leave the house and head up to the memorial once again. You'll speak with Laike; Nall thanks him for his help and he'll ask Alex what does he intend to do now that Ghaleon's true self is revealed. Nall begins to answer but Laike interrupts him, telling him to let Alex speak. You can answer either: 1) I'll defeat the Magic Emperor!, or 2) I'll save Luna! (I suggest picking #2, but I haven't found a difference between the two yet.) Laike admires your resolve, then turns to the monument, reading the inscription. He asks Alex why he thinks Dyne sacrificed his life those fifteen years ago. Alex doesn't know, and Laike explains that to protect the heart of a woman who believed in humanity, Dyne had to sacrifice all his available power. He doesn't want that to discourage Alex's resolve, though, so he encourages him to do his utmost to carry out that decision. He then gives Alex something he found that Quark left behind: the White Dragon Wings. Laike leaves and Nall tells Alex to use the wings and see what they're supposed to do. You do so and disappear...
