Welcome to LunarNET's Lunar: Silver Star Story section! Lunar: SSS is a remake of the original story of Alex told in Lunar: The Silver Star, first released in 1996 in Japan, and 1999 in the United States. SSS also has the widest distribution of any of the games in the Lunar series; in total, there were 7 different releases on 4 platforms in 3 countries. Most of the other media, such as the novels, drama CDs, and later remakes on the GBA and PSP (plus the port to iOS), are based primarily on Silver Star Story.
Lunar: Silver Star Story begins just like TSS: Alex is a young boy in the village of Burg, dreaming of adventure like his hero Dyne. His friend Ramus catches up to him and tells him of a giant diamond in the nearby WHite Dragon Cave. This gives Alex his first chance at real adventure. With his childhood friend Luna, and companion Nall, he sets off on a journey that soon involves the fate of the whole world. A few significant differences between SSS and TSS are that the remake makes major storyline changes, is much longer, contains more voice and animated cutscenes, and has an entirely different soundtrack (except for a few seconds in three cutscenes in the US version, none of the tracks in TSS appear in SSS).
In all, Lunar: Silver Star Story had the following releases:
· Japan - Sega Saturn
· Japan - Sega Saturn with MPEG card (called "Silver Star Story Complete")
· Japan - Sony Playstation
· Japan - PC (Windows 95/98)
· US - Sony Playstation (called "Silver Star Story Complete")
· South Korea - PC
· US - iOS (called "Silver Star Story Touch")
